Marisol Malibu Estates: Malibu’s Past, Present and Future Meet in an Extraordinary Setting that Offers an Exceptional Lifestyle

The owner of the original Malibu rancho and adjacent parcels, Frederick Hastings Rindge, envisioned the development of the Malibu coastline into a riviera that would outshine any of its international counterparts.
Richard Morris set out to accomplish the same goal with Marisol Malibu, resulting in the creation of a landside riviera on 80 acres in the westernmost of Rindge’s local holdings.
Marisol Malibu is located in Ventura County at the county line in the Malibu, 90265 zip code. The private gated community features 17 estate properties, of which 12 are finished estate sites ready for building by the buyer.
Few areas offer the opportunity to create spacious parcels with breathtakingly unobstructed views of one of the Pacific Ocean’s finest surf breaks, as well as limitless vistas of clear blue sky.
Morris says he envisioned the creation of a lifestyle on a par with what Rindge would have wanted for himself and his family and put it in a contemporary and environmentally aware context.
Morris emphasizes, “We took extraordinary steps to preserve, restore and enhance the natural resources of this land.”
This included growing 17 indigenous species for many of the 20,000 plants for the site, as well as the careful transplanting of specimen coastal oaks and toyons from approved locations.
A registered one-acre monarch butterfly waystation has been set aside to protect and provide habitat for the magnificent species.
Located on one of the one-acre sites is Marisol Malibu’s showcase home, which is listed at $17 million. The other ready-for-building one-acre sites start at $4 million.
Three two-acre sites and and one rancho-sized site of 57 acres will also be marketed. All have magnificent ocean views.
The showcase estate is a 10,000-square-foot single-story home, with a 60-foot-wide great room with 14-foot ceilings, in which a wall of glass opens to the outdoor dining pavilion that overlooks the private blufftop beach.
The beach offers all of the fun of the sand and the view without concern for nature’s willfulness.
Rocks for parcel walls were quarried from the site. The driveway is made of hand-hewn cobblestones from native rocks. The past is incorporated everywhere.
Marisol Malibu is co-listed with Jack Pritchett and Jim Rapf of Pritchett-Rapf & Associates of Malibu, and Chris Cortazzo of Coldwell Banker Malibu.
OPEN—The Marisol Showcase Estate, a 10,000-square-foot, single story fully customized residence with a blufftop beach, is offered at $17 million. For more information, visit
