BY BILL KOENEKER

An early Monday morning fire at the landmark BeauRivage restaurant at Pacific Coast Highway and Corral Canyon burned the roof of the turreted building and kept commuter traffic on the PCH stopped or snarled for hours.
The two-alarm fire reportedly broke out in the attic and quickly engulfed the roof in flames, according to fire department officials on the scene.
A second alarm was called, but most of the responding equipment was turned back as firefighters had alredy gotten a handle on the blaze, according to Maria Grycan, a spokesperson for the Los Angeles County Fire Department.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation. “It has been turned over to the sheriff’s department arson unit,” added Grycan, who said there is an estimated damage of $500,000, including $150,000 in contents. There were no injuries.
A spokesperson for the arson unit reiterated that the matter is still under investigation and there were no further updates by Tuesday afternoon.
Grycan said the former owners of the property, Lucian and Daniel Forge, who still reside in the house on adjacent acreage were at home, but there were no injuries to the couple. The new owners, according to Grycan, are Bob Morris and Glen Gerson.
Forge has told folks the company that took over ownership is the Morris Gerson Family Company, Inc.whose titular head is Gerson as president and Morris who serves as the registerd agent for the company.
Morris’s name is most closely associated recently with the Paradise Cove Beach Café and in past years Gladstones and RJ’s Ribs of Beverly Hills.
The Gerson family name is synonymous with the Calamigos Ranch and the various enterprises at the mountaintop property, including Cafe M.
