Teen Musician’s Band Performs at the Canyon Club

The Malibu bass guitarist Robben Bixler, 16, will play one of his biggest shows to date, when he helps the Ben Babylon Band open for the Little River Band on Nov. 10, at The Canyon Club in Agoura Hills.
Bixler recently joined the BBB—comprised of Ben Babylon, keyboard and vocals; Brian  Schwartz, guitar; and Alex Andrews, drums.
“The group has become increasingly  popular since 2011, as a result of festival performances throughout Ventura  County and the Los Angeles area, including the Malibu Music Festival,” a press release states.
“I met Robben while performing at the Malibu Coffee House,” Babylon said. “He is a great musician, and I’m honored to have such a talented bassist join my band.”
“The 15-year-old Babylon, whose late father, Guy Babylon, was Elton John’s Grammy-winning  keyboardist and arranger for 21 years, is currently working on his first album with help from some of Elton’s musicians,” the release states.
The band’s first single from the album, “Contradiction,” is now available on iTunes and Amazon.
Bixler also comes from a musical family. His father, Bill Bixler, is an accomplished jazz  performer and is also the instrumental music director at Malibu High School.
Bixler’s mother is children’s and adult recording artist Leslie Bixler. Robben has performed on two of his mother’s CDs, which  were produced in collaboration with Dick Van Dyke and Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer Chad Smith.
Bixler said he is thrilled to be working with the Ben Babylon Band.“I was immediately blown away by the musicianship and professionalism of Ben, Brian, and Alex,”  Bixler said.
Little River Band and the Ben Babylon Band will perform Saturday, Nov. 10 at the Canyon Club, 28912 Roadside Drive, Agoura Hills.  The Ben Babylon Band will play at 8 p.m. Little River Band is on at 9 p.m. Tickets are $35-$60 .
